Planning Commission

At last night's Covina Planning Commission meeting there were two public hearings.

A historic home lot at 1108 W. Badillo was approved for subdivision into 3 lots. The existing grove house was built in 1910, and it will be kept. The garage & gazebo will be demolished and the main garage rebuilt with matching architectural details. Two new homes will be built on the two newly subdivided lots. They too will be subject to staff's architectural review to ensure that their design complements the historic home.

Next, Red Brick Pizza at Badillo & Grand got a permit to serve beer & wine.

Finally, there was discussion of the zoning and parking considerations surrounding the Bingo Permit process. Commissioners and Council have been working back & forth for over a year on a revised Bingo Ordinance in response to an unusual permit request for which there were no specific guidelines. Tuesday night, Commissioners requested that the City Attorney bring back to them some options in April, relative to proposed parking requirements and zoning changes, including two main approaches:
1. That Bingo be a permitted use in specific zones, as a matter of property right, and
2. That Bingo be a permitted use in specific zones, subject to the conditional use permit process.
